The Iceberg      - Day Dates have been on a rise for the past years and gained more and more popularity amongst collectors than ever. Enthusiasts have realized the rarity and exclusivity of special Day Dates and the market has responded well with a lot of interest and demand resulting in hefty price increases. Now when it comes to rarity a lot of factors play a role, like the metal, the dial and other characteristics. The number of Day Dates in white metal makes only a fraction of all Day Dates and we estimate that probably 75-80 of 100 Day Dates were made in yellow gold making white gold and platinum examples very rare. The current example is a reference 18239 in white gold featuring the double quick set function for the calendar. It houses an electric blue factory Lapis Lazuli Diamond dial, something which only comes up once in a blue moon when cased in white gold. Yellow gold examples can be found much easier. The majority of stone dials are on yellow gold watches and only very few have been cased in white gold. The fine difference lies in the coronet, the diamond markers and hands, which are all in white metal. Further this watch remains in impeccable mint condition bearing a strong case and tight bracelet. The dial is in perfect condition and free of any damages or aging whatsoever. The current watch has been published in Pucci Papaleo's Day Date book as 'The Iceberg' adding a beautiful provenance. Further this watch comes with its original Warranty certificate and was sold in Hong Kong in 1995. A grail for Day Date collectors and truly a very very important watch.
