Details
Jumbo Diamonds - Day Dates have been produced exclusively in precious metals (with the exception of some Prototypes). The predominant material they come in for this era is yellow gold, followed by white gold and then platinum. Earlier references up to ca 1978 were also available in Pink or Rose Gold but in the Sapphire crystal era up to year 2000 there was no Rose Gold Day Date.
So we have here a beautiful example of a Rolex Day Date 18026 in Platinum. The watch dates back to 1991 and has the very distinct 'Smooth' or 'Domed' bezel which in the 182xx cycle was exclusively reserved for Platinum watches. The movement is a double quick set caliber that allows a quick change for the date and day display. The watch is beautifully retained in original condition and has been lightly polished in the past. The excellent condition Silver dial bears noticeably larger diamonds than on gold examples and is exclusively reserved for Platinum examples from that era. The matching bracelet is in very good condition and only shows moderate wear from age.
Neo-Vintage Day Dates are excellent value for money and this example, being in Platinum and bearing the Jumbo diamond dial doesn't even break the bank.
