1953 Rolex Turn O Graph Ref. 6202

The Rolex 6202 is a vintage model that holds significant importance in the history of Rolex dive watches. Released in the early 1950s, it is commonly referred to as the Rolex Turn-O-Graph. The Rolex 6202 was one of the first Rolex watches to feature a rotating bezel, designed to measure time intervals, especially useful for divers. It is powered by the A260 automatic movement, one of Rolex’s earlier automatic movements which stood for robustness and reliability. It came in a 36mm stainless steel case, which was relatively large for the 1950s but now considered modest by modern standards. The Rolex 6202 is often seen as a precursor to the Rolex Submariner, which was introduced in 1953. The rotating bezel concept that became a hallmark of the Submariner was first experimented on with this model. This 6202 is retained in very nice vintage condition with a case that has been loved and worn and is showing wear from almost 70 years of age. The lugs still remain straight and even. The bezel, for the age is still in unblemished and nice condition, the crown with Brevete cross still present. The black gilt dial has completely and consistently matted out and bears very crisp graphics that are fully intact. The radium luminous is fully present apart from the 8 o’ clock marker where it has deteriorated. The watch is fitted to a later Jubilee bracelet showing some wear from age. 

Overall a very cool and historically interesting Submariner, which, especially on a leather jacket outfit is perfectly matched.
