Once in a blue moon, a watch lands on our desk that we classify as ‘New Old Stock’. These watches are preserved in a condition remarkably close to how they looked when they left the factory. How does that happen? There can be several reasons: an unwanted gift, a watch kept safe for someone, or one simply forgotten in a drawer. In the vintage watch world, we embrace these finds. Even a common watch can become rare in this condition.
This 1972 Rolex Lady Precision is one such example. Made in 18k yellow gold, it has a square case with a finely fluted bezel that reminds us of a sunburst. Every angle and edge remains sharp, untouched by polishing or wear. The case shows only very light handling marks from time.
The dial is a subtle champagne color with a fine linen finish that blends beautifully with the geometric case. The markers at 3, 6 and 9, as well as the hands, have black stripes for easier reading.
The watch is fitted with its original Rolex croco strap, which shows some signs of age, along with its original gold-plated Rolex buckle.
