In watch collecting, the combination of a pink gold case and a pink dial has a certain charm that is difficult to explain, yet easy to appreciate. This 1803 Day Date is such a watch. The warm 18k pink gold case blends beautifully with the pink dial and this is not all – it is paired with a rare pink gold Rivited Oyster bracelet – resulting in a a perfect monochrome sensation. Unlike many pink dials that can appear pale or washed out, this example displays a rich and consistent hue throughout. Pink gold Rolexes from this era often exhibit subtle variations in colour, but here the case and dial sit together with remarkable cohesion.

The case is retained in great vintage condition with healthy proportions, sharp edges and well-defined lugs – even after more than 50 years. The dial is incredibly well preserved for the age with very little lume deterioration and a very clean surface. Matching hands, beautifully aged calendar discs and a crisp print speak for a well retained dial. The bracelet – a creation by Gay Frères - the probably most famous bracelet maker of our time. Beautifully retained and only showing moderate wear from age, this bracelet is a rarity by itself.
