A Touch of Glamour – Rolex Day-Date

The Rolex Day-Date has always been the most prestigious model in the Rolex collection, and over the years the brand has offered some wonderfully luxurious configurations featuring precious stones, diamonds and elaborate dial designs.

This 1987 Day-Date Ref. 18038 is a particularly glamorous example, featuring a beautiful champagne gold dial with a delicate diamond string setting and large baguette-cut sapphire hour markers. The deep blue sapphires provide a wonderful contrast against the warm gold tones of the dial, case and President bracelet, while the diamonds add just the right amount of sparkle.

The watch is preserved in very nice vintage condition, with a strong 18K yellow gold case, well-defined lugs and an excellent fluted bezel. The champagne dial is in excellent condition, while the original President bracelet retains its well-shaped links with only light stretch from wear.

A luxurious and distinctly 1980s interpretation of the classic Day-Date. The combination of yellow gold, diamonds and those beautiful blue sapphire baguettes gives this watch a character all of its own, with plenty of glamour without being overly extravagant.

Case Very nice vintage condition case in 18K gold that has been lightly polished in the past. The lugs are straight and even with crisp case numbers in-between. The fluted bezel is also in excellent condition

Dial Excellent matte champagne dial with diamond string setting and Sapphire Beguette hour markers. The luminous, nicely patinaed to a mustard color have been re-applied and on the hands
