Oysterquartz Full Set        - The Oysterquartz is one of the forgotten models from the Rolex collection. With a production run of only 25 years ranging from 1977 until about 2002 it is one which holds significant historical importance. After the launch of their first Quartz watch, the Date 5100 in 1970 which shared a Beta 21 movement Rolex launched their first in-house Quartz calibers, the 5035 for Datejust and 5055 for Day Date in 1977 when the Oysterquartz was born. It is rumored that the finishing on the Quartz movement was done by higher standards than their automatic movements. The standard production was limited to stainless steel (17000), stainless steel & white gold (17014), stainless steel & yellow gold (17013), 19018 ( yellow gold) and 19019 (white gold). Some special variants in platinum bear a different case and bracelet design. It is assumed that no more than 25000 pieces have left the country in 25 years. What we have here is a 17000 reference from 1994, fully made in stainless steel. The condition speaks for itself, the fecette like bevels are crisp and sharp, giving that edge the Oysterquartz needs to look crisp. The bracelet hardly shows any stretch and with 13 links is fully linked. The Silver 'Swiss Made dial (Service dial)and hands are in mint condition. Last but not least this example comes in a beautiful full set with box, carton (mentioning dial color and reference), warranty, booklet and cloth. We believe these are still very underrated for what they are and a lot of Vintage Rolex for your money.
