Toledano & Chan ‘MOP’
Following the success of the original B/1, Toledano & Chan continued to build on the same design philosophy with the later B/1.2. Rather than dramatically changing the concept, Phil Toledano and Alfred Chan refined and evolved the watch while staying true to the architectural language that made the first release stand out. Their approach has always been rooted in a genuine appreciation for sculpture, brutalist architecture and unconventional forms, with the watch serving almost as a wearable design object rather than a traditional luxury product. In a market increasingly filled with familiar inspirations, the B/1 series managed to establish a character entirely of its own.
The B/1.2 keeps the sharply faceted asymmetrical case and integrated bracelet design of the original model, but introduces a softer and more organic presence through its mother-of-pearl dial. Depending on the light, the dial shifts between silver, cream and subtle pastel tones, creating an interesting contrast against the strong geometric lines of the case. As with the original B/1, the influence of 1970s design and watches such as the Rolex King Midas can still be felt, though interpreted in a far more modern and architectural way. The B/1.2 further confirmed Toledano & Chan as one of the more interesting young independent names followed by collectors today.
This particular example has never been worn and still retains its original factory stickers. It is accompanied by the original presentation set including the very distinctive concrete box, a detail that perfectly reflects the architectural and brutalist inspiration behind the watch itself. Preserved in essentially new old stock condition, it is exactly the kind of example collectors hope to come across with early Toledano & Chan pieces.
