Details
The Birch Dial - Rolex has, over the years come up with quite some exotic dials for Day Dates. Starting with rare gem set dials, Stella dials over to Stonedials, everything has been pretty much covered including Wood Dials. There are 3-4 versions known including this very light and warm toned Birch Wood dial. The very natural texture of the wood looks very mesmerizing when combined with precious metals. We know that the Day Date has predominantly been produced in Yellow gold so most of these exotic dials have golden coronets and markers. The number of exotic dials even on yellow gold watches is very low but when this translates to white metal like white gold or platinum then that becomes uber rare. The watch offered here is such an example, made in 18K white gold dating back to 1983. The original and excellent condition Birch Wood Dial is beautiful showing a natural pattern on a warm and light brown tone. The white gold indexes and hands stand out on the wood dial and reflect when light falls on the dial. These white gold Wood Dial Day Dates are extremely hard to come by and often have waves because of humidity. This very dial is absolutely flat with no such damaging. Apart from all the technical features this watch just looks so good and for sure its a conversation piece.
