Omega must have been one of the most successful Swiss watch brands in the 1960s and 1970s. At least this is how it feels when we see the vast number of different models that the brand has produced in this period. No wonder there is always someone who has an Omega watch from their father or grandfather and it is always a charming story.
We have here a lovely Omega De Ville that was born in the 1980s and has this retro feel case – gold plated or possibly gold capped, the quality of the plating in any case is one that lasts. The watch is very monochrome, a golden case, golden dial and golden hands. Fitted to a vintage Omega Croco strap with a beautiful round buckle.
Condition - I would say excellent, this watch doesn't seem to have had a lot of wrist time. Well preserved and unmolested case, hardly worn strap and everything is doing what it should to. It comes in its original Red Omega coffin box, that alone is a rarity.
A non-exciting but definitively charming vintage Omega that despite being an insignificant and inexpensive proposition represents so much value. It is a great watch for those who want to get into vintage watch collecting and want to get a taste for a minimal budget. Also a great gift – maybe to yourself?
