Enamel Queen
The Protocole line has always been one of Piaget’s more unconventional directions — a design that steps away from the classic round case and into something far more expressive. Introduced in the late 20th century, it reflects a period where Piaget was pushing shapes, proportions, and materials in a way that felt confident and at times intentionally bold. The “Miss Protocole” follows that idea, but doesn’t necessarily hold back.
This reference PL0317 from the early 2000s is crafted in 18k white gold and features the distinctive rectangular Protocole case with its elongated proportions. It’s a watch that immediately stands out — larger than expected, with a strong presence on the wrist. The design doesn’t aim for perfect symmetry or restraint; instead, it leans into a slightly exaggerated, almost sculptural form that feels very much of its time.
The enamel adds another dimension. There is a richness to it that plays well with the size of the case — not disappearing, but holding its own. Piaget’s work with dials has always been a strong point, and while enamel is more subtle than their stone dials, here it still contributes to the overall character rather than softening it.
Powered by a quartz movement, the watch remains practical despite its bold appearance. Offered here with its original papers, it is a well-preserved example of a model that captures a very specific design language — one that is less about balance and more about making a statement in a quiet, Piaget way.
