The Iced Beta21
The reference 14105 was produced from 1970 until 1976 and houses the legendary and iconic Beta21 movement that was introduced in 1970 as a Swiss response to the early Quartz crisis. In the development 21 Swiss watchmakers including Rolex, Patek Philippe, Piaget and many more companies came together and created the Beta21 movement. In order to fit the quite large movement, the case was produced in a substantially big case. The three stepped case has an iconic shape and wears very heavy on the wrist.
This very example has diamond settings all over which differentiate from one step to the other. The dial is magical paved with diamonds in a so-called snowball setting where the stones are meticulously set side by side to create a optical play in lighting and angle of observation. The 3, 6, 9 and 12 position on the dial is set with two sapphires each which beautifully stands out on the completely pavee watch.
According to information we have from the previous owner this watch was sold on leather strap and the first owner had this white gold and fully diamond set bracelet made by Corum whose logo can be found on the clasp. To date we have only seen one other example of this Piaget watch, however without the white gold bracelet.
This Piaget is magnificient and a feast for collectors who appreciate the craftsmanship and artistic approach that Piaget is known for.
