Details
Quartz - With a total production run of about 25 years ranging from 1977 till about 2002 it is one which holds significant historical importance. It was Rolex's answer to the Quartz Crisis in the 1970s when most watch brands were adding Quartz watches to their collections. It is rumoured that the finishing on the Oysterquartz movements was done at even higher standard than their automatic movements. The total production seems to have not surpassed the 25000 mark which is a very small number when it comes to Rolex watches.
Here is a very nice stainless steel example in vintage condition that shows some love from age but is retained well with a strong case and little stretch on the bracelet. The dial has aged to a egg-shell hue and looks very 'vintage'.
The Oysterquartz is a watch that one need to see on the wrist to decide if you like it or not. Definitively a great design watch and a conversation piece for sure.

Brief History
Rolex Day-Date
Created to celebrate Rolex's 40th anniversary in 1954, the Rolex Datejust was the first automatic wristwatch to indicate the date on the dial, featuring the iconic window at 3 o'clock magnified by the Cyclops lens for enhanced legibility, and so far remains one of Rolex's best-selling watches.
