The Rolex Datejust is one of those watches that never goes out of style. Introduced in 1945, its timeless design, comfortable proportions and versatility have made it one of the most popular Rolex models for generations.
Introduced in the late 1970s, the Ref. 16014 brought a few welcome upgrades to the classic Datejust, most notably the Cal. 3035 movement with its convenient quickset date function. The combination of a stainless steel case, white gold fluted bezel and Jubilee bracelet remains one of the most recognisable Datejust configurations.
Our example dates to 1988 and features an unusual anthracite Rolex service dial, with a dark grey finish that changes its appearance beautifully depending on the light. The 36 mm case is preserved in very nice vintage condition, with straight, well-defined lugs and clear case numbers. The watch is fitted with a period-correct Jubilee bracelet in very good condition, showing only light stretch.
A lovely vintage Datejust with a slightly different character, combining the familiar elegance of the model with an unusual dial colour. A classic that is just as easy to enjoy today as it was nearly forty years ago.
