Description

The Porthole desk clock is a very iconic design that was embraced by several brands however the most iconic ones seem to be from the house of Jaeger LeCoultre. The main period for these was from ca 1940s to 1970s.

This timepiece dates back to the 1950s and is the large version of it. Made in a very heavy gilt brass case this clock easily weighs more than one kilogram.

What makes this timepiece even more desirable is that the dial is double signed Hermes. The two brands have had a long standing partnership in those years and the Hermes signature adds to the flair and desirability of this clock. It was exclusively made to be retailed at Hermes.

The dial is clean, free from any visible flaws and retains a crisp and clear print, including the minute track. The Hermes signature is also fully retained and has not tarnished from age. The dial color shows a light copper hue giving it a very interesting look.

The mechanics of opening the clock are very practical, simply unscrew the large screw, which is part of the design and release the lever to get access to the winding mechanism.

A very iconic and meaningful clock that has become an iconic piece in the range of table clocks. As mentioned before, this is the very large and solid variant and will make a great presence in your favorite place.
