Description
This Luxor is as much an object to look at as it is a clock. Its unusual gilt brass case is filled with translucent enamel in shades of blue, green and red, which come alive as the light moves across it. The small matte black dial sits at the centre, with simple gold dot markers that let the colours do the talking.
Made in Switzerland around 1970, it has a mechanical eight-day movement that needs winding roughly once a week. At approximately 9.5 cm, it is small enough for a desk or bookshelf, but its shape and colour give it plenty of presence. A lovely example of how imaginative vintage desk clocks could be.
