The Rolex Princess Midas Ref. 9903 is a fascinating case. Manufactured for an exceptionally short period between 1961 and 1962, with an alleged production of just 20 examples in yellow gold, it remains one of the rarest and most unusual Rolex creations.
Designed by the legendary Gérald Genta, the Princess Midas is arguably one of his wilder creations of the period. Architectural, geometric and unapologetically bold. While the King and Queen Midas share a similar case profile and integrated bracelet, the Princess takes things to another level with its oversized proportions and substantial weight of approximately 150 grams.
Originally conceived as a ladies’ watch, the Princess fits on smaller ladies’ wrists and larger men’s wrists, thanks to its ingenious first-generation adjustable clasp.
