The Florentine       - Rolex never misses to impress us when with their range of Day Dates produced over the years. They stand out with a medley of mesmerizing characteristics starting from the dial to the case and over to the bracelet. Our love for Day Dates has made it possible to hold some of the world's most interesting and rare examples in hand. The majority stood out because of a rare dial but today we know, this is not all. Especially from the mid 60s to 70s a number of Day Dates has appeared with special bracelets such as Millanaise, Mesh and Brick bracelets. To our knowledge these special bracelets were not stock products at the ADs but options to be obtained by special order. What we have here is a stunning example of a Rolex Day Date 1806 in a very special configuration. The 18K yellow gold case bears the so-called Florentine finish, containing of very fine geometrical engravings on the lugs and bezel. What's interesting is that the same engravings are present on the fine Brick style bracelet. The silver dial with batons is mint and bears original lumes which are beautifully matching the hands. Interestingly  the watch was not originated from the Middle East like we would guess but surprisingly from France. The watch bears French hallmarks on the case back and clasp plus features a French Day disc. The serial number indicates a 1966 production which perfectly matches the date stamp on the bracelet clasp. This watch is special in every aspect, not only because of the findings we described in the text above but also because it is in brand new and unworn condition.

Brief History

Rolex Day-Date

Arguably one of the most iconic watches ever made, the Day-Date aka the Rolex President was introduced in 1956 and was the first to feature both the day and date in dedicated windows on the dial.

The Day-Date is the top model in the Rolex line-up and comes in an array of configurations with rare and special dials and case decorations. It has only ever been made in precious metals with Automatic movements and historically with an elegant diameter of 36mm - the perfect size for an iconic dress watch.
