Details
Vintage Autavia Full Set - the Heuer Autavia GMT Ref. 1163 was launched in 1970 as the first self-winding Autavia GMT which was released in 3 verion, MK1, MK2 and MK3. The MK1 & MK2 had the now newly introduced Caliber 11 movement also used to the iconic Monaco, the MK3 housed the upgraded Caliber 14 movement. Autavias in general are very contemporary when it comes to the size of the case, 42mm is definitively the size for a Sports- or tool watch. The example offered here is the MK2 from the very early 1970s and is beautifully preserved. The 42mm case is strong and still retains its iconic shape with clear lines, angles and free of any major dings or dents. The dial is near flawless and has turned dark chocolate brown over the years, bears original Tritium lumes and matching hands. It is not the surprise that the bezel and insert looks like new, they have been replaced with original old stock parts by the Heuer Heritage department during the full overhaul in 2016. It is still getting better, yes, this watch is offered with the original Warranty booklet, Heuer Service Papers and original box.
