The unpolished Mk2 GMT - In our journey to find the best watches collectors often fail and either wait or start making compromises. Good news is we don't want to make compromises and even better news is, if you were looking for a perfect GMT 1675, here it is. What you see here is a ca.1973 Rolex GMT Master reference 1675 with MK2 dial. This watch is in incredible condition with an unpolished case showing beautiful factory beveling and crisp lug holes. The lugs are straight and even, still retain the factory brushing. The fat font Pepsi insert has aged to a petroleum blue and light rose color, is fitted to a sharp edged and unpolished bezel. The correct period MK2 dial is near flawless and free of any marks or discolorations whatsoever. The original luminous material has aged to a cream color and is consistent with the original hands. It comes on a folded 7836 Oyster bracelet which is fully linked and has moderate stretch from wear. All in all this is a mint watch in honest condition, one which doesn't come up much. We haven't seen such a good one in a long time
|Excellent unpolished case that is showing factory finishing with well defined lugs and original bevels, even on the crown guards. The bezel is equally unpolished with sharp teeth and grooves. Numbers between the lugs are clear and fully intact The bezel insert is a correct red back fat font and period correct. The upper part of the bezel has aged to a petroleum blue and the lower part has faded to a light rose color
|Bracelet / Strap
|Very good and fully linked 7836 folded Oyster bracelet. The bracelet shows moderate stretch for its age
|Near flawless MK2 dial with original Tritium plots. The luminous material has aged to a cream-taupe color and is matching the tritium on the hands. The hands themselves have got some patina from age
The GMT Master was launched in 1954 and designed in collaboration with Pan American Airways, with an extra 24h hour hand and bi-color bezel that allowed pilots to track two time zones across day and night. The GMT Master is characterised by an automatic movement and the iconic dual-colour bezel that represents each of the 24 hours in a day.
