A 1975 Rolex Orchid in white gold
The Rolex Orchid is known as a tiny ladies watch that came in a universe of configurations and what most of them have in common is that the watch case itself was round – this watch is a bit of an outlier but a very cool one.
The rectangular case measures 18 × 24 mm and is made in 18k white gold. Look closely at the fine coin-edge finish along the sides and the sharp corners. The case appears to have avoided polishing, with its factory finish still visible. The original crown and case numbers remain intact too.
Matching the finishing of the case we noticea fine tapestry finish on the grey dial giving the small watch plenty of texture and harmony with the case finish – a nice but unmistakable detail is the Orchid signature.
This is a hand-wound Rolex in remarkable condition, currently fitted with a leather strap and buckle. Small and understated, but full of details that make it interesting.
