1978 Rolex GMT Master MK5 Maxi Dial Ref. 1675
We have here a great example of a late Rolex GMT Master with Mk5 matte dial, the last version of the 1675 reference which ranged just before the end of the 70s. The dial is in pristine condition not showing any flaws. The Maxi lume plots have aged to a beautiful warm corn yellow color and are matching the hands. As if this was not enough the watch is fitted to the original C&I bracelet with full links in great condition. A beautiful Pepsi in very vibrant colors and in great condition.
|Model||GMT Master MK5 Maxi|
|Case||Excellent case that has been polished in the past. The lugs are well defined and show beautifully beveled edges. The red back Pepsi insert shows some wear from age and has aged to a beautiful Pepsi blue and reddish pink combination.|
|Bracelet / Strap||Excellent matching C&I folded Oyster bracelet stamped 78. The long (12 links) bracelet is very tight and does not show much wear, hardly any stretch. The end links fit the case perfectly as if it has never been taken off.|
|Dial||Excellent and flawless MK5 matte dial with Maxi lume plots which have aged to a warm corn yellow color matching with the hands set. The lume in the seconds hand is cracked but still fully present.|
The GMT Master was launched in 1954 and designed in collaboration with Pan American Airways, with an extra 24h hour hand and bi-color bezel that allowed pilots to track two time zones across day and night. The GMT Master is characterised by an automatic movement and the iconic dual-colour bezel that represents each of the 24 hours in a day.
