1680 White - The 1680 reference was launched in 1967 as the first Submariner in the line-up which had a date. To mark this, the word Submariner was printed in red color until the white Submariner variant was launched in ca 1977. The current example is from 1978 and houses a MK2 dial with vivid cream patina which really is the highlight of this watch. The lumes really pop out on the back dial and blend nicely with the beautifully aged dark gunmetal grey insert. The watch has just returned from a full Service at Rolex, as to be expected the hands had been replaced by Luminova hands but we have beautifully color matched them with the lumes on the dial. Its a beautiful example of a vintage Submariner Date offered in a great full set with box and certificate and fresh RSC papers.
|Very good case that has been lightly polished in the past and is showing some wear from age. The lugs remain straight and even with clear numbers inbetween. The bezel insert is mint and has aged to a matte dark gun metal grey color
|Bracelet / Strap
|Very good 93150 solid Oyster bracelet with dive extension and later clasp. 11 links
|Excellent Mk2 dial with vivid vanilla color lumes. There is a small oil stain under the U from Submariner, visible only under magnification. The watch just came back from a full Service at Rolex so the hands were replaced with Luminova hands, these hands have been color matched.

Released in 1954 at the Basel Watch Fair, the Submariner was the first watch to be water-resistant to 100m. The most recognizable watch in the Rolex line-up. The Submariner is characterized by its iconic black dial and diving bezel. A tool watch with a strong Rolex DNA, the Submariner is not only the most iconic Rolex, but probably the most iconic watch of all time.
