1985 Rolex Day Date Peach Stella Diamond Dial Ref. 18048

Macaron       - Stellar is probably the best word to describe this marvellous Rolex Day Date 18048 from 1985. The reference 18048 stands for a yellow gold Day Date with single quickset movement and factory diamond bezel. It was a serial production watch from 1978 until 1989 but to be honest, we don't see many of these around. The case remains sharp with well defined lugs and clear numbers. The factory white gold bezel is also in excellent condition and looks stunning on the contrasting yellow gold case. This reference also by default comes with a diamond dial. This very example does bear a diamond dial too but not just any diamond dial. This watch is fitted with a insanely rare original Stella diamond dial. The color is to die for, a vibrant pastel Peach color like we haven't seen before. Stella SA, the company which was manufacturing the Stella dials for Rolex (and which was bought by Rolex later) used to mix the lacquer for each dial separately hence some colors are very unique plus some of the dials have developed unique hues over time.  The surface of the dial is is super glossy and hardly shows any wear from age, further the dial is free of any cracks or hairlines which are very common for Stella dials. The calendar discs have aged to a off-white color and the print is showing beautiful serifs on letters and numbers. This 18048 is one hell of a watch and will guaranteed catch some attention wherever it will appear. The color of this dial is one of the best colors on Stella dials we have had so far.
