Details
The Triple Zero Submariner - The Rolex Submariner 168000 has the probably shortest production run for any Submariner reference. The model was transitional and only produced in 1987/1988. It is the predecessor of the 16610 which had the longest production run for a Date Submariner. We would rate this very example as in raw condition. It has seen a lot of wrist time and could probably tell us stories if it could speak. The special feature on this is definitively the dial. While the 168000 dials had a full glossy finish (similar to the later 16800 and 16610) this very dial has turned completely matte over time. Its is very unusual to see a non- glossy dial with white gold surrounds in matte finish and it has a very interesting feel. The original Tritium plots have aged to a creamy color and contract well with the now matte dial. The hands are original and seem to have aged lighter than the lumes on the dial. The case is fat, well defined and has a overall worn tool watch feel. Its like a watch you put on and you dont even think about taking it off.
