Tahitian Mother of Pearl - Mother of pearl dials have been in the Rolex line up for the longest time we remember. To be honest here, some look amazing and some are just boring but I believe that depends firstly on the person but mostly on the color combination of the Mother of Pearl and the material the dial is cased in. One of the best combinations seems to be the Tahitian, also called black Mother of Pearl and white gold. The present watch is exactly configured this way. The very dark shell type texture of the dial reflects in a medley of rainbow colors when exposed to lighting and yet can be subtle and elegant. The 10 white gold framed diamond markers enhance the glamorous look of the dial and give it that rich look. It is in fact one of the best looking Mother of Pearl dials we have seen, housed in a 1990 Rolex Day Date 18239 featuring the double quick date feature. Its one of those watches where pictures just won't do justice, it is just mesmerizing.
